Analytical Scientist / Senior Scientist

There is an opening for a Scientist in the Analytical Sciences Department. The Scientist will be responsible for the design, testing, and optimization of integrated microfluidic systems that include electrospray ionization, molecular separations of proteins and peptides, and sample pretreatment or sample concentration. The Scientist will also be involved in the fabrication process of microfluidic devices with mass spectrometry interfaces, using polymeric materials. This work will be as part of a team that is currently developing an integrated microfluidic-based system for quantitative proteomics experiments.

Qualifications include a Ph.D in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with 2-10 years of postgraduate experience. Successful candidates will have a broad background in protein and peptide separations, combined with experimental and theoretical understanding of electrospray ionization interfaces to mass spectrometers. Additional desirable skills include experience in microfluidics, and in areas such as LC/MS systems, sample concentration techniques, monolith chemistry, focusing methods such as IEF, two-dimensional separations, and polymeric microfluidic chip fabrication. Some project management experience is also desirable. Outstanding interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and a strong teamwork ethic are required.

Senior Associate Analyst, Informatics

We have an opening for a Senior Associate Analyst, Informatics. In this position, you will support lab scientists' experimentation efforts by analyzing mass spectrometry data using statistical methods and writing reports summarizing findings. Responsibilities will include working with scientists and the Informatics group to develop, evaluate and validate analysis tools and graphic user interfaces for use in research and development. You will also work with scientists to outline studies and design experiments.

Requirements
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, statistics or related fields and demonstrated experience and skills in analysis of biological data, including:

  • 3-6 years industry experience with:
  1. statistical analysis of mass spec data ideally or other biological data sets
  2. software like Matlab and R/S+
  3. programming in Perl, Python, or C/C++
  • Experience with LINUX and Windows platforms
  • Experience presenting analysis results
  • Ability to work independently and take projects from start to finish
  • Ability to quickly identify and assimilate new knowledge
  • Product Development experience a plus
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.

Manufacturing Associate (Temporary)

We are seeking individual(s) who have 2+ years of industry experience. Manufacturing experience is desired and plastic processing or biochip experience is a plus. Other experience in medical device, semiconductor or other process manufacturing could be applicable. The position requires machine operation abilities and good at trouble shooting skills. Candidates should have a BS college degree and good communication skills, good record keeping skills and be able to work in a team environment.

Predicant Biosciences is an emerging life sciences company. We are committed to transforming patient care by providing physicians a clinically reliable method of detecting, diagnosing and monitoring complex disease states through the analysis of protein patterns in blood. Predicant Biosciences is located in South San Francisco.

Senior/ Manufacturing Development Engineer

There is an opening for a Manufacturing Development Engineer to lead the manufacturing process development and engineering efforts in our start-up facility. The position requires working between the Development and Manufacturing groups, as well as with other teams in Predicant’s highly collaborative environment. The Engineer will be responsible for

  • Manufacturing process development, optimization and evaluation, methods and equipment validation, technology transfer, design for manufacturability and new product introduction
  • vendor qualification and audits
  • follow-up on deviations, failures, and corrective actions
  • documentation of procedures, validations, and audits
