| Analytical Scientist / Senior Scientist |
There is an opening for a Scientist in the Analytical
Sciences Department. The Scientist will be responsible
for the design, testing, and optimization of integrated
microfluidic systems that include electrospray ionization,
molecular separations of proteins and peptides, and
sample pretreatment or sample concentration. The Scientist
will also be involved in the fabrication process of
microfluidic devices with mass spectrometry interfaces,
using polymeric materials. This work will be as part
of a team that is currently developing an integrated
microfluidic-based system for quantitative proteomics
experiments.
Qualifications include a Ph.D in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with 2-10 years of postgraduate experience. Successful candidates will have a broad background in protein and peptide separations, combined with experimental and theoretical understanding of electrospray ionization interfaces to mass spectrometers. Additional desirable skills include experience in microfluidics, and in areas such as LC/MS systems, sample concentration techniques, monolith chemistry, focusing methods such as IEF, two-dimensional separations, and polymeric microfluidic chip fabrication. Some project management experience is also desirable. Outstanding interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and a strong teamwork ethic are required.
